Center For American Studies affiliated with the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaΕ„ is honored to invite you to take part in the 5th International Conference titled “American Legal, Political, Philosophical & Economic Thought: Theoretical Reflections and Contemporary Challenges”.

The conference will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 1 PM to 8 PM (CEST) in a hybrid manner.
Those who wish to present online using Microsoft Teams may do so. You may also choose to be present in the live conference room at the Faculty of Law of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

The goal of the conference is to discuss the history of shaping and current functioning of the American legal, political, and economic institutions through an interdisciplinary prism.
The conference encourages using scholarly achievements of various strains of law, philosophy, sociology, political science, and economics to do so.
Proposed (sample) thematic areas of your conference presentation:
β€’ Ch.S. Pierce and W. James’ pragmatism as the philosophical basis of American legal realism;
β€’ the sociological jurisprudence of Roscoe Pound and the social engineering project;
β€’ Roscoe Pound’s dispute with the realists (K.N. Llewellyn and J. Frank);
β€’ law in action and critics of the law in books;
β€’ American theories of justice and other legal theories (John Rawls, Robert Nozick, Ronald Dworkin, etc.);
β€’ political philosophy and theory (social democracy, libertarianism, anarchism, republicanism, liberalism, etc.) in American context;
β€’ legal, political, and economic thought of the Founding Fathers (Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Washington, Franklin, Adams, Paine, among others);

β€’ Registration should be performed by 23.59 on July 1, 2022 (we will not extend this deadline)
β€’ Payment of the conference fee to the bank account number that will be provided to the qualified speakers in an e-mail – the fee must be paid by July 4, 2022 at the latest.
We reserve the right to select abstracts.
The results of the abstract selection process will be announced by July 2, 2022.
➀ PASSIVE PARTICIPATION (CONFERENCE AUDIENCE)
Steps necessary to register for the conference as a passive participant (audience):

β€’ Submission of the Audience Registration Form should be done by 23.59 on July 11, 2022 (we will not extend this deadline).
Failure to fill in the form will result in the inability to passively participate in the conference (and thus the inability to receive a passive conference participant certificate);
β€’ Payment of the fee to the bank account number that will be provided to passive participants via e-mail;
β€’ The fee must be paid by July 14, 2022, at the latest. (Passive participants will have a chance to see the conference schedule before paying the fee).

β€’ 219 PLN / 49 EUR – traditional certificate sent via post;
β€’ 199 PLN / 45 EUR – digital certificate (PDF for self-printing) sent via email.

β€’ PLN 129 / 29 EUR – traditional certificate sent via post;
β€’ PLN 109 / 25 EUR – digital certificate (PDF for self-printing) sent via email.

* Failure to do so may result in delays in posting the fee on the appropriate account and, consequently, even exclude your participation in the conference.
In the case of a co-authorship of a presentation by two or more authors, please pay the fee for each of the co-authors separately.

β€’ It is possible to receive a VAT invoice;
β€’ The fee is non-refundable;
β€’ The link to the online conference room will be made available to registered participants within 24 hours before the start of the conference;
β€’ It is possible to deliver a conference presentation by two or more speakers (the fee should be multiplied by the number of speakers);
β€’ The presentation time is 15-20 minutes (depending on the fact of giving a solo or duet presentation and the total number of presentations during the conference);
β€’ Certificates of participation will be sent by traditional mail / e-mail within two (Poland) or three (rest of the world) months from the end of the conference [let us know if you need the paper certificate earlier];
β€’ The Center For American Studies arranges the order of presentations. The exact time of speaking at the conference is pre-determined by CFAS (it will be not possible to change the time of your conference presentation set in the conference schedule).
